Judging criteria
Judging criteria
The judges will pick the winning entry based on the following criteria:
- The book conveys the idea of safe travel to school in an interesting, engaging way that grabs and holds the reader’s attention. (For more information on safe travel, see www.feetfirst.govt.nz and http://education.nzta.govt.nz).
- The book reflects the multicultural nature of New Zealand society.
- The book portrays safe ways of travel. For example, entries featuring characters taking part in activities such as bike riding must show characters wearing appropriate safety gear and adhering to road safety rules.
- There is a strong link between the words and illustrations on each page.
- The book is a page turner that the reader won’t be able to put down.
