ACG Sunderland - Waitakere

ACG Sunderland - Waitakere

Recently ACG Sunderland won  a $1000 of books for their school library."We are very grateful for the books, they are terrific and a real addition to our library "said  Leanne Chartrand Dean of Upper Primary and librarian Debbie Davies.

By entering a poem or prose all schools were entered into the draw - here is AGC Sunderland's entry.

Near my holiday home there is a delightful and relatively quiet range, unforgettable for the scenery, flora, fauna and charming villages, where life appears to be little unchanged by the wonders of technology. There was still some snow on the paths leaving a crisp, cool, fresh smell to the air even in April. I started the walk at the gorge and felt the warm sun on my face as I work uphill. In the distance I can hear the sounds of nature- birds screeching as they soar downwards into the deep valley. I am met by goats as the path reaches the highest point and the views are stupendous. This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the special view. A refreshingly cool wind smatters me with droplets of rain as I turn the bend and start my descent. As the path leaves a small forest I enter a delightful pine meadow and the view is superb. It is not until I reach the villages again that I hear the sounds of humans and machines and am reminded of why I love walking.
