In Maori legend the Pukeko restlessly wanders New Zealand swamps and water ways constantly searching for the sacred tiki that he was entrusted with but lost. Ever since he is constantly strutting, forever looking for the one thing that should never have been lost.
Some may argue that the experience of walking to school for our newest generation of children holds the same significance as the sacred tiki, something that sadly has been lost for a whole generation of children.
For that reason Maxx the Pukeko will be out and about in schools throughout the Auckland Region in support of the Feet First Everyweek programme.
