Snells Beach School starts out on the right foot

Snells Beach School starts out on the right foot

Snells Beach School started their first full week of school in a positive way with a Walking School Bus on the very first day after opening day.

The opening of the brand new school offers the opportunity for children to attend school locally and with that comes the added bonus or being able to walk or cycle to school. Many of the children now enrolled at the new school have been busing or travelling to schools outside of Snells Beach in the past.

Parents and children are embracing the opportunity to get to school on foot, bike or scooter and to improve fitness along the way. As one parent commented “It's so great that they can walk with each other, make friends and wind down a bit on the way home as well as have a bit of a walk before school.”

One Walking School Bus is currently underway, and growing, with approximately 10 walkers and another route is under development. Snells Beach School is now working on incentives and recognition of walkers to keep enthusiasm up as we move towards winter.
