Brookfield School ambassadors step up

Brookfield School ambassadors step up

Brookfield School Senior Feet First Ambassadors, Duncan, Heru & Millie, have each week been visiting classes to gather numbers of those children taking part in the Feet First Walking Wednesday each week and inputting those totals onto the NZTA website.

In addition to this the students have been presenting the Feet First trophy each week in assembly to the winning, junior & senior classes and keeping a class tally chart to see which class wins for the year!! Competition is growing…

The senior students have been promoting active transport to the classes during Term 2 and have been looking at ways they can capture the attention of students, parents and school staff attention to increase the numbers taking part.

These are their thoughts about being Feet First Ambassadors:

Millie – ‘ Get to see how many kids walk to school’

Duncan – ‘ It’s giving me ideas for when I go onto Intermediate school later on’

Heru  - ‘ I like standing in front of the school, but not so keen to do the talking!’

ALL OF THEM DECIDED – ‘ It’s cool to do instead of using fuel”

This is a short poem they have put together which they are going to use in school to promote Feet First and active transport during Term 3:

Walking is fun,

You could even run!.

It’s cool,

It’s saving fuel!.

There’s less pollution,

We’ve got the solution!.

Walk to school,

IT’S COOL!!.
