‘Maungatapu School – Share with Care”

‘Maungatapu School – Share with Care”

Room 15, after taking part in Tauranga City Councils’ ‘Kids Can Ride’ cycle safety programme made it known to the council earlier in the year that the footpath leading from our school gate to the tunnels was too narrow for pedestrians and cyclists, with the result that we now have a dual pathway, wide enough to accommodate both bikes and pedestrians.

In addition to the pathway the council invited our class to design some signs for the subway tunnels that read, “Share with Care”. Four designs were selected by the council to be affixed above the pedestrian tunnels.

We all travelled by public transport courtesy of Enviornment Bay of Plenty to Tauranga Council offices where we enjoyed morning tea, talked to personnel who monitor our traffic patterns, roads and footpaths, as well as meeting Mayor Crosby who announced the winning ‘Share with Care’ designs.
