Hennie Roux Manager of Tauranga City Transportation had an opportunity to meet some of the senior students at Tauranga Primary Schools who have been committed to responsible roles in the city to encourage Feet First Every Week, Kids on Feet, Kids Can Ride and safe school travel plan practices at schools. He congratulated the students on the important role they have played for their school and the city.
Students from Mount primary shared the role that they have been taking seriously in 2009 in their school. They are known as the “Travel Safe Tallyists” and wear Feet First badges and orange sashes when carrying out their role. Every Thursday is Feet First Thursday at Mount Primary and a message they have decided to share and promote with seniors students at school is – “There is no excuse for senior students to be dropped at the school gate!” They have decided that senior classes must achieve 70% or higher to be awarded the Feet First trophy. What a great idea for seniors to role model to the middle and junior school.
All the very best with your idea!
