Travel Smart student workshop

Travel Smart student workshop

Tauranga City Council ran a Travel Smart student workshop for the senior school students who have taken on the responsible role of Feet First and other school travel plan initiatives.

Thirty six students from the Mount/Papamoa coast schools attended the workshop at Mount Primary and were taken through a very activity based programme. Some parents/caregivers took part and supported the morning. Students followed an agenda and had the opportunity to work in groups with students from other schools.

At the end the students had the opportunity to evaluate the workshop, they were also thanked for the responsible role that they have taken on in their school.   Two other workshops will be organised in Term 3 for the other schools.

The objectives of the workshop are:

- Raise awareness of ‘active’ transport (Travel Smart)

- Understanding your role and how important it is in your

- School

- Tauranga City

- New Zealand

- Have fun and enjoy the activities
