Tauranga was hit with a massive hailstorm on the 11 May this year. It was particularly heavy at Bayfair and Papamoa.
Hail blanketed the ground like snow and as school came to an end, the students walked out to see a thick crystal white coating on the ground.
Whatever the weather the Simpson Rd ‘Kids on Feet’ bus and the McCallum St bus at Papamoa School continue walking. These walking buses are run thanks to the dedication of parent coordinators as part of their ‘i save the world’ programme.
Pictured are the students on the Simpson Rd bus leaving after the hailstorm that caused havoc in the Bay of Plenty. Who would want to get in a car, when there is so much fun to be had walking home in crunchy hail?
