Making Connections - Linking Digitally

Making Connections - Linking Digitally

The Making Connections and Linking Digitally ICTPD cluster led by Nigel Frater - Plateau School and facilitated by Jan Coleman  heard about the new NZTA Education Website

We have two fantastic competitions for schools to enter that will encourage you to get creative about safe school travel. You can enter just one or both!

They are a great opportunity to get students working collectively on a creative project that brings together reading, writing, visual language and art. At the same time, schools can use the competitions to promote safe school travel to students and their community.  More information on storyboarding and making digital stories in the classroom is included in the ‘Getting Started lesson activities’.

Competition 1 - Create a storyboard competition (and win a chance to produce a short movie)

To enter, a group of students (years 1-8) must create a storyboard that equates to a two minute video on the theme of safe school travel. The storyboard can be submitted in any form eg, drawings with text, PowerPoint, etc.

Two winning schools will get the opportunity to work with Stuart Hale, an ICT teacher/educator, and turn their storyboard into a two-minute video, which will be published on this website. Each school will also get a $1,000 Noel Leeming voucher and ten HD Flip Video Camcorders™.

Competition 2 - Create your own movie competition

To enter, a group of students (years 1-8) must produce a movie (30 second to 90 seconds) on the topic of safe school travel. Entries must be submitted as a digital format link eg uploaded to slideshare, youtube, vimeo or similar .

All schools who enter will go into a prize draw to win one of two top prizes of ten HD Flip Video Camcorders™. There will also be ten second prizes of $500 Noel Leeming vouchers.
