Cornflake makes a difference
By Letitia with help from her mother with the illustrations
Cornflake was the new cow. Everyday he would wake up, put his clothes on , have breakfast, brush his teeth and hair and would be out the door by 8.00 am riding his skateboard to his new school.
He got lonely after a while going to and from school with no-one around and he wondered why. So he made some friends and asked if they wanted to walk to school with him. It took a while to get them to come with him, but it eventually worked.
His friend’s names were Rango the Robin and Riley the Rabbit. One day when Cornflake, Rango and Riley were walking to school, animals in passing cars were looking at them as if they were crazy.
“Why are they laughing at us?” Cornflake asked “ Ah , coz everyone gets a ride to school in a car and we are the only ones who walk to school,” Riley replied.” Oh, but in Henley School heaps of animals walk, at Harrison Primary no one really does except us.” Cornflake said. “Yeah I know. We can’t exactly change that” Rango said. Cornflake thought for a moment. “ I have an idea!” He exclaimed.
Rango and Riley gasped at the idea: they thought the idea was grand. It worked very well. Cornflake’s plan was to make heaps of red tokens and get animals to walk to school; everytime they walked they would get a red token. By the end of the term most animals would have 76-91 tokens so they would each get a bag of lollies.
Riley asked where they would get all the lollies from. “ Well my parents think I love lollies and sweets so they buy heaps for me and I have kept them ever since. I absolutely hate them and they don’t seem to go off .” Rango explained “ Awesome, may we please use them?” Cornflake asked impatiently. “ Of course we can . All I do is shove them under my bed and forget about them.” Rango said.
Everything was excellent up the 7 th day. The school bully Bruce the Horse and his back-watching trouble makers marched right up to Cornflake and his friends, “ what do you think you are doing? Try’n to get us walking everyday just for red piece of paper, ha rip off!” Bruce showed off his laughing with his pals “ Well when you get like 90 red….” Bruce stopped laughing and stared “Are you being serious ?” Bruce asked “ Why wouldn’t I be?” Cornflake said. So Bruce and his mates heard about the sweets they started to walk as well.
All the teachers and the Principal Chuckity the chicken were impressed. Whenever they saw them they would pat them on their backs. All the kids wanted to be friends with Cornflake and he became the most popular kid in the school. Even the Nelson Evening Mail was onto them; they wrote an article about it on the front page! Ever since then, Kiwi’s from all over New Zealand have been saying that was how feet first was created..
And maybe it was!!!!

Henley School

Dear Diary
The next place I went to was the very freezing country of Iceland. I spent a long time filling my bag up with all the woolly garments I would need. I did some research on Iceland and chose a school called Selfoss Primary School for me to go to. I drove down to their school with the car’s heater going full bore- brrr, man it was freezing! The children decided their most strange way to get to schools was on the back of dog sleds, thought it was a totally normal way to get to school.
