This was the first competition of its kind in Hamilton with the aim of capturing the magic and diversity of walking to and from school – from a child’s eye-level.
Each WSB Route Co-ordinator was given one disposable camera with 27 shots to use. We looked for a variety of pictures, with as many students as possible taking a turn to capture their view of walking to and from school. The competition ran over a week to allow for a range of opportunities to take the photos in different sorts of weather and so as many children as possible could participate.
Judges used broad criteria to select the winning photos, all the entries were different which made choosing the best one really hard! Each WSB route received a set of printed photos to keep, a CD of digital photos and each winning photo was enlarged, framed and gifted to their school, courtesy of Imageland.
We are proud to share some of the winning pictures from the competition here and we hope you enjoy taking a look at how children see their walk to school.
