Each morning for the last four years I have been catching the ferry from Queen’s Wharf to Days Bay to get to school.
One of the great things about going on the ferry is that quite often something unusual happens and each day is different.
We have been lucky enough to experience dolphins swimming next to the boat, penguins flying next to the boat and also have seen sightings of whales. One day on the way back from school we saw some SAS soldiers driving about in their large black inflatable rescue boats doing some sort of manoeuvres.
Sometimes the sea can be unpredictable but I think some of the most fun is had when the sea is rough and you get thrown around the boat and then land on the soft seats with your friends.
One of the best things though is that we have met some new people. Once on the boat we met some friendly Asian tourists who made things really enjoyable by showing us tricks and what their currency looked like.
I highly recommend this way of getting to school – there is no reason to be worried as the crew are trained to cope with anything (and if the weather is too bad we get a shuttle bus instead!)
