Hutt Central walks and wins
Every Friday teachers at Hutt Central School count the number ofstudents who have walked, cycled and scooted to school during the week. Since they started
keeping track of how the students get to school, more and more children
have been keen to get involved. Children who live a great distance from
school have been asking their parents to drop them off further from the
school gate so that they can join their friends and walk the last leg.
Teacher Lisa Leader said "winning the $500 sports prize was a fantastic
surprise". She plans to ask all teachers for their "wishlist" of sports
equipment and get everyone involved in spending the money.
